U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Becker collected more than 5,000 signatures to get his name on the ballot for November's general election as the West Virginia Constitution Party candidate.

Becker wants Congress to take a look at whether federal agencies and programs meet the constitutional mandate of promoting the general welfare of the nation, not individuals.

"I thank my parents for an excellent moral upbringing, my family for their love and understanding, my good friends for their support, voters who signed our petitions for their consideration, and America's founders for their divinely inspired wisdom," said Becker, chairman of the West Virginia Constitution Party.

"As the next U.S. Senator for West Virginia, I look forward to the opportunity of representing the values and best interests of the Mountain State in federal Congress."
